Ibn Kathīr: the Khārijites Are from the Strangest of Species Created by Allāh

The Salafī Scholar from the eighth century hijrah, Ibn Kathīr (رحمه الله), from the students of Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah (رحمه الله) has some great and mighty words which expose the Bāṭinī methods of the Khārijites in conspiring against the Muslims:[1]

I said: And this faction amongst mankind (the Khārijites) are from the strangest of species (forms) amongst the children of Ādam, and sublime is Allāh who created variations in His creation as He desired and which preceded in His great (prior) estimation (qadar) [before creating the heavens and Earth].

And how excellent is what some of the Salaf said about the Khārijites, that they are the ones mentioned in the verse: "Say, [O Muhammad], 'Shall we [believers] inform you of the greatest losers as to [their] deeds? [They are] those whose effort is lost in worldly life, while they think that they are doing well in work.' Those are the ones who disbelieve in the verses of their Lord and in [their] meeting Him, so their deeds have become worthless; and We will not assign to them on the Day of Resurrection any importance."[2]

The intent here is that they are misguided ignoramuses, wretched (despicable) in both statements and deeds. Their view reached agreement upon withdrawing from the ranks of the Muslims. They conspired to go to the various town in order to win people over and strengthen (their ranks) through them so that they can send deliver such people to those from (their associates) - who share the same view and doctrine as them from the people of Baṣrah and elsewhere.
