Wherever you find the accusation of Irjāʾ surfacing and the various controversies surrounding it, it’s a sure sign that Ḥaddādīs may be lurking in the neighbourhood. There are numerous affairs that go hand in hand and they include: tabdīʿ of Ahl al-Sunnah, false accusations of Irjāʾ, sympathy for innovators and the aḥzāb (involved in blameworthy politics), alongide seeding divisions and enmities among Salafīs. These affairs, when they appear together, comprise a warning sign requiring investigation and caution, and they remind us of the 1990s, when these matters first appeared in the backdrop of geopolitical events.
Shaykh ʿAlī al-Hudhayfī wrote an article regarding the accusation of Irjāʾ wherein he said:
There are those who accuse the scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah of Irjāʾ This campaign of theirs against them (the scholars) is considered among the vilest of attacks ever made against the scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah. Several matters demonstrate this:
The first of them: They are staunchly committed to this falsehood; and are prepared to wage lengthy battles over it and are not prepared to cease this war.
The second of them: They accuse a group of scholars from Ahl al-Sunnah of Irjāʾ, and have accused Shaykh al-Albāni, Shaykh Rabīʿ bin Hādi, Shaykh Muḥammad Amān bin ʿAlī al-Jāmī, Shaykh Muqbil al-Wādiʿī, and others (رحمهم الله).
